Hyderabad: Finding fault with the State government’s liquor policy, former MP and Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao wondered as to how the people who were being encouraged to consume liquor would contribute to ‘Bangaru Telangana’.

Speaking to media in the Assembly premises on Monday, Hanumantha Rao alleged that the government was encouraging the youth to consume liquor on one side and on the other side it was arresting them selectively and was giving counselling not to get intoxicated.

He asked the government to stop encouraging liquor consumption in the State for the sake of fulfilling the dream of Golden Telangana. “It was not proper on the part of government to offer permission to the liquor shops for every 13000 people,” he said.

Appreciating the state government’s much hyped Haritha Haram program, Hanumantha Rao demanded the government to reveal the details of the tree guards. He found fault with the state government for giving too much publicity to the Haritha Haram and asked the government to tell whether it prepared 46 crore tree guards for protecting saplings. He said that the government was planting sapling but not protecting them leading to wasting of money.
