Khammam: The Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao, speaking to media persons in Kusumanchi mandal on Friday, ridiculed the Congress leaders stating that they didn’t have proper knowledge over the irrigation projects.

The Congress initiated several irrigation projects without obtaining mandatory permissions, Tummala said, accusing them of siphoning off crores of rupees in the name of projects. He said that the Congress leaders who maintained silence over projects during the State bifurcation have no right to question the TRS government.

The Congress failed to complete the Indira Sagar and Rajiv Sagar projects during its regime in the united Andhra Pradesh. After State bifurcation, the AP government was non-responsive for the completion of Indira Sagar project at Rudramkota under Velairpadu mandal (now in West Godavari district),” Tummala detailed.

Against this backdrop, the TRS government initiated Sri Sitarama Project, redesigning the project and to cater to the needs of the district farmers, he added. He questioned the Congress leaders why they didn’t they approach the AP government if they had concern towards the farmers. “The Congress leaders are launching a tirade against the TRS government only to cover up their failures,” Tummala said.
