Mahbubnagar: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Jupally Krishna Rao, pulled up the officials for their lackadaisical attitude towards the Haritha Haram plantation programme.

Taking part in a review meeting in Narayanapeta on the status of Haritha Haram programme in Narayanapeta and Makthal constituencies, the Minister directed all officials concerned to work with dedication, determination and commitment to reach the targets set by the government.

“We will take stern action against those officials not taking Haritha Haram seriously. The government has set a target of planting 46 crore saplings this year and 230 crore sapling in the next 2 years.

The officials must work in coordination with the local people and the leaders to make it a success,” said the Minister.

“All the municipalities in the district have been given a target of planting 11 lakh saplings. To date, we have planted 7.90 lakh saplings.

As the rains are good this time, every individual must strive to see that Mahbubnagar reaches the minimum forest cover of 33 per cent,” said Mahbubnagar Collector Dr TK Sridevi.
