Hyderabad: Former Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao demanded Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to first implement the reservation on the basis of population in his own cabinet.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, the senior Congress leader said the KCR who has been promising social justice in the form of reservation to under privileged sections of the society should extend the quota to his own cabinet.

Rao said people would only believe him and his idea of inclusion, only after he implements it in his own government. “The Chief Minister should at least now realise that people are observing his government and the way it is functioning, without a woman or a BC in his cabinet,” he cautioned.

Meanwhile, Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail said the State government should have placed the Sudhir Commission report in public domain immediately after it was submitted to Chief Minister on Friday.

Commission of Enquiry, headed by retired IAS officer G Sudhir, was constituted under Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952 and its contents pertain to the socio-economic and educational status of Muslims in Telangana. Therefore, its report should not be treated as a classified document. It should be immediately made public without any delay,” he said.

Abdullah Sohail, who recently spearheaded the ‘One Million Yes for 12 per cent Muslim Reservation’ campaign, said people have right to know the actual findings and recommendations made by the Sudhir Commission before it is presented before the State Cabinet for approval.

“Since the constitution of Sudhir Commission was projected as a prelude to provide 12 per cent reservation for Muslims in jobs and education in Telangana, people are keen to know whether or not the Commission recommended quota proportionate to the Muslim population. The government should act on this report in a totally transparent manner,” he demanded.
