Adilabad: Congress in-charge for Telangana Digvijay Singh on Tuesday accused the TRS government of collecting commissions from contractors for redesigning the projects sanctioned during the Congress regime.

Addressing the Rytu Garjana Sabha here, Digvijay Singh said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is rendering injustice to farmers by not waiving farm loans at one go and extending the same to four phases. Both Narendra Modi at the Centre and KCR in the state came to power by giving false promises, he added.

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the people had fondly called the Congress regime from 2004-14 as that of the pro-farmer government.

He came down heavily on the Congress for hiking the Pranahita-Chevella project cost to Rs 86,000 crore to meet its selfish goals.

Uttam said the Congress during its regime had sanctioned Rs 16,000 crore to the project out of the total cost of Rs 36,000 crore.

Had the TRS government released Rs 20,000 crore, it could have easily quenched the thirst of the people of seven districts, he pointed out.

Prior to the meeting, Digvijay Singh made Adilabad DCC president Maheshwar Reddy to withdraw the fast undertaken by him seeking one-time loan waiver for the farmers.

Congress leaders Kuntia, Koppula Raju, Shabbir Ali, Suresh Reddy, Madhu Yashki, Ponnam Prabhakar, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Jeevan Reddy, Sabita Indra Reddy, DK Aruna and others took part in the meeting.
