Warangal: TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday urged the people of Warangal- Hanamkonda- Kazipet to express their dissent in a strong manner against the creation of Hanamkonda district as the very proposition of dividing Warangal and Hanamkonda was hard to imagine.

Warangal Parirakshana Committee has given a call for Warangal bandh on Tuesday opposing Hanamkonda as a district.
“The tri-cities of Warangal- Hanamkonda- Kazipet have existed as one entity for decades and now dividing them is meaningless. The tri-cities have to be retained as part of one district,” said Prof Kodandaram speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Monday.

Stating that the State government should explain the criteria on which the new districts are being created, Prof Kodandaram said that a detailed study of local geographic, cultural and historic facts has to be made while creating any new district.

The government should have solicited resolutions passed by local gram panchayats and mandal parishads, opinions of people’s organisations prior to the districts reorganisation, he said. The State government instead of listening to the agitating residents of Jangaon, who are seeking a new district, is bent upon creating Hanamkonda district which is not necessary, Kodandaram said.

The ‘email ID’ tab in the State government’s public objection filling portal on new districts has to be removed as many in the villages do not have email ID or access to internet. Other means such as a phone number or a special counter in each village have to be set up to allow people to express their objections. A provision to submit suggestions and objections has to be made at RDO office and mandal level, he said.

Kodandaram also met Jangaon Zilla Sadhana JAC leaders to extend support to their cause. M Dharma Rao of BJP, N Rajender Reddy of Congress, G Satyanarayana Rao of TDP, T Srinivasa Rao of CPI, E Venu of Forward Bloc, Bar Council member M Sahodar Reddy, Prof K Venkata Narayana of KU, Warangal Parirakshana Committee convener B Jayakar Jangaon JAC chairman A Dashmanth Reddy and others have appealed public to make Tuesday bandh a great success.

MRPS president M Krishna Madiga and CPM district secretary S Vasudeva Reddy have also expressed their support to the bandh.
