The NRI-TRS Cell, UK and Hyderabad Association, UK jointly organised a ‘Meet and Greet with Md Mahmood Ali, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana’ in London on Sunday. Lambeth City Mayor Saleha Jaffer and former Hounslow Mayor Nisar Malik attended the meet as guests of honour.
Hyderabad: The NRI-TRS Cell, UK and Hyderabad Association, UK jointly organised a ‘Meet and Greet with Md Mahmood Ali, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana’ in London on Sunday. Lambeth City Mayor Saleha Jaffer and former Hounslow Mayor Nisar Malik attended the meet as guests of honour.
The programme was presided over by NRI-TRS Cell secretary Naveen Reddy and Hyderabad Association, UK, vice-president Shahnawaz Khan. The NRIs hailing from Telangana State attended the programme from different parts of the UK.
The participants observed a two-minute silence in memory of Telangana martyrs. They also paid homage to Telangana ideologue K Jayashankar. A video highlighting the activities of NRI-TRS Cell was screened on the occasion.
Speaking at the meet, Md Mahmood Ali lauded the key role played by NRIs in the Telangana movement. Highlighting the development initiatives taken up by the TRS government in the past two years, he said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was striving hard to meet the aspirations of people of Telangana.
“The State government has launched several innovative programmes to develop Telangana on all fronts. Telangana is making rapid strides under the able leadership of Chandrashekar Rao,” he said. Reiterating the TRS government's commitment to achieve ‘Bangaru Telangana’, Md Mahmood Ali said the State would come up with an NRI policy soon and invited suggestions from NRIs living in different parts of the world.
Later, Mahmood Ali was felicitated by the NRI-TRS Cell, UK, and Hyderabad Association, UK. The NRI-TRS Cell, UK president, Anil Kurmachalam, UK and EU incharge Vikram Reddy, London incharge Rathnakar Kadudula, Hyderabad Association, UK president Mohammed Mujeeb, general secretary Mohammed Samiuddin and leaders of several organisations affiliated to the TRS attended the meet.
