Warangal: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Sarve Satyanarayana has threatened to take up an indefinite hunger strike if the State government fails to withdraw its decision to create Hanamkonda as a new district.

Speaking to media persons in Hanamkonda on Tuesday, the former minister alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was behaving like an autocrat in creating new districts. Stating that the Chief Minister was acting at the behest of MIM party, Sarve questioned how the CM could divide Warangal city which has a history of 1,200 years.

No opposition party and none of the people have welcomed the creation of Hanamkonda district, he said, adding that the Congress party would review the districts reorganisation as per the people’s wish. Sarve further hoped that his party would assume power in the next election as people were vexed with TRS rule.

It is ridiculous that the State government, which is denying the demand to create Jangaon district, is intending to create Hanamkonda district, which none is supporting. Even, many leaders of the ruling party are also opposing to it,” Sarve claimed.

The Congress leader further demanded the government to concede to the demand of Jangaon public. Party District president N Rajender Reddy, City Wing president K Srinivas Rao, senior leader EV Srinivasa Rao and others participated.
