Hyderabad: Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy on Tuesday said the government, if needed, would increase the commissionerates in Cyberabad from the existing two after the delimitation of districts. The Minister was replying to the discussion on Cyberabad (Metropolitan Area) Police (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016 (Telangana Ordinance). He said the population had increased and so had the crime rate in the Cyberabad limits.

The Home Minister said during 2004, the population of Cyberabad was 26 lakhs and now (2016) it was 65 lakhs. The total cases registered during 2004 were 14,445 and in 2016 the cases registered were 30,895. There were 34 law and order, two traffic and one women police stations during 2004 and now there are 44 law and order, 12 traffic, 2 crime stations and one women police station.

He said the criminals were taking shelter in the nearby villages in Cyberabad limits. Congress MLA T Ram Mohan Reddy wanted Chevella to be excluded from Cyberabad commissionerate limits. BJP member N V S S Prabhakar said his constituency Uppal was spread in the limits of three ACP offices including Kachiguda, Alwal and Malkajgiri.

He wanted the government not to take any decision in haste and wait until the new districts took shape. TDP member A Revanth Reddy said his constituency was under two DCPs and two CIs. He wanted the Bill to be sent to select committee. Supporting the Bill, TRS member Prabhakar Reddy said people were welcoming the decision of the government. He said he was happy to see his constituency under Rachakonda commissionerate.

The government passed three bills including division of Cyberabad, Telangana Charitable and Hindu Religious Institutions and Endowments (Amendment) Ordinance, (No 4 of 2016) and Telangana Taxing Statutes (providing for constitution of State level authority for clarification and advance rulings) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016.
