To speed up the process of formation of new districts, the Telangana government on Wednesday released Rs 1 crore to each of the existing districts (except Hyderabad) and another Rs 1 crore to the proposed new districts under Special Development Fund (SDF).

Hyderabad: To speed up the process of formation of new districts, the Telangana government on Wednesday released Rs 1 crore to each of the existing districts (except Hyderabad) and another Rs 1 crore to the proposed new districts under Special Development Fund (SDF).

The existing districts will utilise the funds towards transportation of furniture, files etc to the new district headquarters, while the new districts will spend money to establish Collector offices and for other logistical support before they start functioning from Dasara this year.

State Principal Secretary (Planning) BP Acharya said the district Collectors were authorised to draw and incur expenditure as per the guidelines issued by the State Revenue department.

Warangal district has got Rs 4 crore (Rs 1 crore for the existing district and Rs 3 crore for three proposed districts). Similarly, Rs 3 crore each has been allocated to Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Medak, Karimnagar and Adilabad districts, and Rs 2 crore each has been given to Khammam and Nizamabad districts.
