Hyderabad: A 14-year-old boy studying in a Madarsa at Chandrayangutta was allegedly sodomised by his teacher. The police booked a case and started a manhunt for the absconding teacher.
The boy, who was studying Khurane Shareef at Noori Nagar Madarsa, was admitted to a nearby hospital after he complained of ill-health. During the course of treatment, he informed his parents about the sodomy, who subsequently lodged a complaint with the Chandrayangutta police.
Chandrayangutta inspector Y Prakash Reddy said the accused was identified as Riyaz (30). The complaint states that the victim was taken to an isolated place at Bandlaguda where the accused sodomised the boy. The incident happened 15-days ago, but the victim complained about the incident only after he was admitted to the hospital, the inspector said.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered on charges of sodomy under Section 377 of IPC and also under relevant Sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Meanwhile, Balala Hakkula Sangham (BHS) has demanded strong action against the teacher under POCSO Act.
They also demanded that the State government review the Madarsas system. “The fundamentalist Madarsas are abusing the children and practising cruelty against them. The Madarsas system should be reviewed and if necessary, it should be banned. Madarsas are against Right to Education Act,” said BHS in a press note issued here on Tuesday.
