Nearly 150 students from Hyderabad are facing crisis situation in New Zealand after the government served deportation notices to them. The students had used fake documents in their student visa applications. However, they are blaming their visa agents in Hyderabad for the fake financial documents but the students are being personally held responsible for their own documents as they are the ones who submitted them.

Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce was quoted saying to Radio NZ, "Students and their parents cough up huge amounts of money, often through bank loans, to study abroad. The students who now face deportation claim to have spent between $20,000 to $25,000 towards college admission, agent commissions and other expenses."

Shocked by the deportation order given to them, the students staged a protest in Auckland on Monday and were supported by the Migrant Workers Association.

Whether the Indian government intervenes to resolve the crisis is yet to be seen. Earlier, in January this year, the US immigration authorities had cancelled student visas and deported students from Hyderabad.
