The car was being driven by software professional Venkata Ramana who was in an inebriated state. He along with two other occupants -Yadareddy and Srinivas, in the car had fled the scene after the accident. But the Hayathnagar police nabbed the three and victim’s father SV Sivananda filed a case against the accused. Police registered a case under sections 337 and 338 of IPC and other relevant provisions of MV Act.

However, within 24 hours of their arrest, the three men were released on bail. The family members of Sanjana are dismayed over the bail given to the culprits and have vowed to stage protests until they were put back in jail.

Members of Communist Party of India (Marxists) visited the injured in the hospital and demanded the rearrest the culprits along with stricter laws on consumption of liquor.

Sanjana who suffered multiple injuries is undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is reportedly still in a critical condition.
