Public health to be placed under Rural Water Supply wing
The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) authorities are contemplating to transfer public health department to Rural Water Supply (RWS) since different drinking water schemes, including Mission Bhagiratha, are going on in the State.
Hyderabad: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) authorities are contemplating to transfer public health department to Rural Water Supply (RWS) since different drinking water schemes, including Mission Bhagiratha, are going on in the State.
The public health department under the MA&UD is in charge of investigation, designs, and execution of water supply and sewerage schemes in all the municipalities and municipal corporations besides the technical control over all the engineering works in municipal towns and Corporations.
Generally works are initiated and completed by the public health department under the MA&UD. After completion, the water supply and sewerage schemes are handed over to the municipal corporations and municipalities concerned for operation and maintenance. Periodical inspections of water supply and sewerage schemes are maintained by the municipality concerned.
Sources said that the officials deliberated on bringing the public health department under the rural water supply (RWS) department, which had been taking up several water schemes in the State. Apart from this, all the engineering wings were also to be transferred to the RWS department. Presently, the government was taking up its ambitious drinking water scheme of Mission Bhagiratha.
