Unhappy with the verdict given by Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on Krishna waters, the Telangana Cabinet on Friday constituted a sub-committee headed by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao to study the implications of the verdict and prepare an action plan.

Hyderabad: Unhappy with the verdict given by Brijesh Kumar Tribunal on Krishna waters, the Telangana Cabinet on Friday constituted a sub-committee headed by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao to study the implications of the verdict and prepare an action plan.

The sub-committee will have ministers Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao and Jagadishwar Reddy as members. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari and Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board Niranjan Reddy will be the Special Invitees. It will prepare a report and submit the tribunal in December.


Districts Rechristened

  • Yadadri will be known as Yadadri Bhongir district
  • Bhadradri as Bhadradri Kothagudem
  • Jogulamba as Jogulamba Gadwal
  • Rajanna district as Rajanna Siricilla
  • Jayashankar district would be called as Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district
  • The spelling of the Komaram Bheem district has been changed to Kumaram Bheem

During the 4-hour long meeting, the Cabinet took serious note of the criticism that was coming from opposition parties with regard to the loan-waiver scheme for farmers, delay in clearing the dues of fee reimbursement and Aarogyasri.

It directed Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to clear the dues and Aarogyasri schemes by the borrowings it would raise following relaxation of the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM). It may be mentioned here that the Centre had recently given its nod permitting TS government to increase FRBM limit to 3.5 per cent which would help the government to raise Rs 1,561 crore borrowings additionally this year

The cabinet also adopted a resolution asking the Andhra Pradesh government to hand over the buildings which it had vacated. The resolution would be sent to the Governor ESL Narasimhan requesting him to take necessary action.

As per the AP Reorganisation Act, Blocks L, J, North-H, South-H and K Block in the Secretariat have been allotted to Andhra Pradesh and Blocks A, B, C and D were given to Telangana to run the administration from these buildings for a period of 10 years.

Briefing the press after the cabinet meeting, Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari said that the resolution had also urged the Governor to help the government get back Assembly, Legislative Council and other buildings given to AP in Hyderabad. As per the Reorganisation Act, Governor was the authority to transfer the properties to one state to another.

The minister said that the TS government received an unofficial communication that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has in principle accepted the TS government’s request. It was also decided to form two cabinet sub-committees, one to study the functioning of universities including financial status and for appointments and another one for the prospects of aqua farming.

While the Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari would lead the sub-committee on universities, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy, Agriculture Minister P Srinivasa Reddy, Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivasa Yadav, R&B Minister T Nageswara Rao , Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and Finance Minister E Rajendar would be the members.

The sub -committee on aqua culture would be chaired by T Srinivasa Yadav and Irrigation minister T Harish Rao, Agriculture minister P Srinivasa Reddy and Finance minister E Rajendar will be the members.
