Jayashanker Bhupalpalli: Telugu Desam Party Telangana unit working president A Revanth Reddy is all set to embark on a ‘padayatra’ to highlight Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s “anti- farmer policies.” He is set to start the programme from Bhupalpally on Sunday.

The ‘padayatra’ would culminate in a public meeting at his native Kodangal Assembly constituency on November 30, after covering Khammam, Peddapalli, Suryapet , Manchiryal, Jagityal , Nizamabad, Vanaparthi and Gajwel.

Revanth said during his ‘padayatra,’ he would expose the TRS government’s failure in addressing farmers’ plight, particularly delay in the waiver of farm loans, non-payment of input subsidy, lack of
remunerative prices for agriculture produce, increasing farmer suicides and forceful acquisition of agricultural lands from the farming community.

The TDP leader said 2,700 farmers had so far committed suicide in the last two years. Yet, the families of only 40 of the victims were paid Rs 6 lakh ex gratia each, while the rest of them were left in the lurch. The Centre released Rs 791 crore as input subsidy to the State, but the government had diverted the funds to pay the bills of contractors. Farmers had also lost their means of livelihood as the government had forcefully acquired their lands for the setting up of SEZs, Pharma City and for other commercial purposes.

Calling on people and social organisations to come forward and support his fight against KCR’s rule, Revanth said he would also expose the government’s indifferent attitude towards the farming community by highlighting the poor marketing facilities and low minimum support price.

The ‘padayatra’ will be taken out with about 3,000 party workers, farmers and leaders. Nearly 10,000 people are expected to attend the public meeting at Bhupalpalli, claimed the party district leader P Ashok Kumar.

The party State president L Ramana, senior leaders Ravula Chandrashekar, E Peddi Reddy, Motkupalli Narasimhulu, Nama Nageshwar Rao, Seetakka, Reveri Prakash Reddy, G Mohan Rao, Ch Suresh Reddy, Gandra Satyanarayana Rao and others would take part in the programme.
