Telangana govt converts Irrigation Projects into Tourist Destinations
In an innovative initiative by the Telangana government, all the major irrigation projects in the state are being promoted as tourist destinations.
In an innovative initiative by the Telangana government, all the major irrigation projects in the state are being promoted as tourist destinations.
The state government has taken up the mission as a part of its new Tourism Policy to provide facilities at the irrigation projects to garner as special attractions.
Currently, the TRS government is constructing Mallannasagar, Yellampally, Kaleswaram, Pranahitha, Kalwakurthi and Sriram Sagar Irrigation Projects. Water Sports, Boating, Paragliding, cottages, landscapes are the facilities to be provided at these reservoirs. Also, safety measures are being given utmost importance before these tourist spots are approved.
Apart from the above-mentioned facilities, the tourism officials are considering setting up swimming pools, recreation clubs and food courts near the reservoirs.
In the past one year, Telangana has witnessed an increase of 20 percent in the domestic tourists which has encouraged the government to take additional measures to promote Tourism in the state.
