Hyderabad: The new vehicle owners need to wait for sometime before they get the Registration Certificate (RC) after registering their vehicle with the office of the Road Transport Authority (RTA) since all the RTAs are facing shortage of printing material to issue RCs.

After happily purchasing a vehicle, the owners run to the RTA office to get it registered. Then, there begins the long waiting for registration of the vehicle. One might have to spend two or three hours to get the registration work done.

But the problem begins after completing the registration. The RTA officials express their inability to send the RC at an early date. In fact, they are also not sure how long it would take to send it. They say that they are running short of printing material to prepare an RC.

The state government had given contract to private firms to supply printing material to the RTAs. The vehicle owners used to receive the RCs in a couple of days. After the term of contract has expired, the contractors stopped supply of printing material to the RTAs. For the last 20 days, there is no supply of printing material to the RTAs.

Satish Reddy of Malakpet, who purchased a car, is yet to receive the RC even after 20 days. When asked, Malakpet RTA officials are not sure when they would send the RC to the car owner.

So is the case with Khairatabad RTA office. Aswin of Panjagutta has been making rounds to the RTA office for his RC. He said that he was afraid to take out the car fearing the police might ask for the RC to ascertain his ownership.

When contacted, the RTA officials said that they could not say when the supply would resume. The vehicle owners appeal to the government to solve the problem at an early date.
