New Delhi: Demonetisation impact on Telangana economy, immediate relief to the state to overcome the financial crisis and the possibility of providing one-time amnesty to unaccounted money-holders were among the important issues that are learnt to have figured during the one-on-one meeting Chief Minister KCR had with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Saturday.

According to sources, KCR is learnt to have explained to the Prime Minister about the situation in the state following demonetisation and the impact it had on the state economy and financial situation.

He also enquired form Modi about the impact of the decision on the Indian economy. Highlighting the adverse impact on the state, KCR is reported to have asked the Prime Minister to hold a meeting of Chief Ministers of all states to discuss the strategies to overcome the impact of demonetisation.

Sources said that the Chief Minister had urged Modi to provide succor to the farmers and people living in villages who were badly affected following the November 8 decision of the Central government.

The plight of common man, particularly the poor, small time traders and different sections of society, were also brought to the notice of the PM.

KCR is also learnt to have submitted a detailed note on the financial situation of the state and sought Central assistance to various schemes the state had launched including the housing scheme.

The Prime Minister is said to have explained to the Chief Minister about the long-term benefits to the states as well as the country once the process of curbing black money would be over.

The problems are of short term and soon money flow would increase, the Prime Minister is said to have informed KCR.

In the long run, this decision will help the common man as it would result in bringing down the prices of various commodities and will help creating a healthy economy for sustainable development.

KCR is said to have requested the Prime Minister to reschedule the loans taken by the Telangana government and immediately release the pending tax share from the Centre.

He also sought the PM’s immediate intervention in the release of funds for Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha programmes as the NITI Ayog in principle agreed to allocate funds for the two ambitious programmes.
