Cheriyal: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao proposed to develop Komaragiri Mallanna temple on the lines of Tirupati, but officials are showing only inaction, not paying attention to master plan implementation and a lackadaisical attitude to provide pilgrim amenities, irking the devotees.

As such, the devotees visiting the Brahmotsavam celebrations of the temple slated in December are sure to encounter troubles. The people of the region pinned hopes on development of Komaragiri Mallanna temple on the lines of Yadadri as the Chief Minister had showered sops on Yadadri.

He visited the temple on December 21, 2014 and promised measures to groom the temple on the lines of Tirupati but did not make any other announcements. Participating in a public meeting of the Kurumas, he announced two MLC posts to the community and announced allocation of Rs 5 crore to the Kuruma Bhavan. Later, he directed government officials to allot 166 acres of land in and around Komaravelli, which is rocky, to the temple.

In 2014, the state government allocated Rs 5 crore to provide amenities to devotees thronging the place for Brahmotsavams, but the officials had washed off their hands spending Rs 1.60 crore by laying the CC roads.

Last year, the government sanctioned Rs 1.10 crore which the officials had used for laying drainages and development of bathing ghats.

Proposals to lay internal roads with Rs 2.5 crore have been confined to paper alone. The works being executed on account of Brahmotsavams are suffering from lack of quality, it is alleged. Also works to provide accommodation and to drinking water facility to devotees are apparently absent. The revenue officials handed over revenue records allotting only about 131 acres in Komaravelli, Kistampeta, Ramsagar and Pedareni villages as in respect of 35 acres there are inter-district boundary disputes between Warangal and Medak districts.

Because of boundary disputes, a part of about 50 acres of the temple lands were subjected to encroachments. Proposals related to building 100-room choultry, guest houses, internal CC roads in the vicinity of the temple, development of underground drainage, development of Yellamma temple ghat road and other works did not progress beyond the proposal stage. When executive officer Ramakrishna Rao’s clarification was sought , he said that Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned to provide amenities in the Yellamma temple premises and to build a kalyana mantap. He said that measures were in place to rule out any difficulties to devotees thronging the temple.
