Hyderabad: The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman, Prof M Kodandaram, on Sunday accused the State government of being adamant as far as allowing private universities.Addressing the concluding session of three-day annual meeting of the Students' Federation of India (SFI), students wing of the CPI (M), at Shamshabad here, Prof Kodandaram said it was unfortunate that the government was not taking measures to improve infrastructure in government schools and provide funds.

He said allowing private universities to set up their centres would cause more harm to State universities and educational institutions than doing any good.He spoke at length on "education in corporate institutes and government institutes," said all prominent ducational institutions were set up in and around Hyderabad in undivided Andhra Pradesh. Humanities had lost its sheen as it did not help the students to get jobs. The State government should focus its attention on setting up technical institutes in other parts of the State, he said.

It would be more beneficial if the government provided better facilities in government schools and colleges rather than encouraging the private institutions to open their shops here. The government should encourage setting up of small and medium scale industries in tier two and three cities to prevent migrations to Hyderabad, he added.ate varsities
