Employees in municipal bodies not to serve more than 18 months at one place
Hyderabad: There is never a dull moment at Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The latest buzz doing rounds at GHMC is that about 25 per cent of GHMC employees will be transferred to other municipalities and corporations by June.
According to highly place sources, the government has been framing rules in such a way that every employee working in municipal bodies across the State would serve his/her duties for not more than 18 months.
The move by the government may not eradicate corruption but would definitely minimise it say officials. The government is expected to prepare a final copy of unified service rules by February end and issue a circular in March second week after CM KCR's approval.
The unified service rules would be applicable to all city departments including Hyderabad Metropolitan Authority, Hyderabad Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is all set to implement unified service rules by the next financial year.
The officials also said that in order to ensure smooth functioning of the civic bodies the State government is contemplating to transfer officials in four phases in four academic years. The government has already prepared a draft copy of unified service rules and is awaiting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s approval.
Sources in the civic body say that the State government has instructed the corporation and other municipalities to prepare a list of officials who have been facing allegations. In all probability, the tainted officials would be transferred to other municipalities and corporations.
The official also said that the government has also asked the municipal bodies if the officials try to retain the transfer orders.
A senior GHMC official told The Hans India that the Municipal Administration and Urban Development department officials have already prepared draft copy of unified service rules and recently send the same to Chief Minister for his approval.
He said that the government has decided to reshuffle 25 per cent of municipal staff in all local bodies across Telangana. He said that government has instructed them to prepare the list of 25 per cent officials and transfer them to other local bodies during every academic year.
