Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad on Monday directed the BCCI to appoint an Observer to run the day-to-day affairs of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) until a new committee is elected as per Justice Lodha Committee recommendations.
It also directed the BCCI to appoint a financial advisor in consultation Delloitte firm to monitor revenue affairs of HCA.
The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter gave this interim direction while hearing a PIL petition moved by Hyderabad-based advocate Govind Reddy, seeking appointment of a commissioner to oversee the international match between India and Bangladesh.
The bench made it clear that since there is very less time for the international match between India and Bangladesh to be played in Hyderabad on February 9, the BCCI General Manager Ratnakar Shetty, who is in Hyderabad to oversee the arrangements for the match, must act as Observer for this match.
It also directed the ad hoc committee to be constituted under the chairmanship of John Manoj to work as per the Observer’s directions.
The bench also sought a report from financial advisor on the expenditure made and income generated from this match by the time of next hearing.
