Hyderabad: As part of the expansion plans, the Telangana BJP would reach out to about 60 to 70 lakh households in the State in the next three months promoting the party principles and ideology by engaging about 10,000 party workers.According to senior leaders of the party, this would be taken up as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Pandit Deendayal padhyaya, the founder of Bharatiya Jan Sangh.

The cadre would be visiting the villages with pamphlets about the party’s principles and also about the programmes of the NDA government. This would help the leaders in having ‘sampark’ (contact) with the people. The programme would be taken up at regular intervals till the next elections, a senior party leader said. The national party pinned hopes on Telangana and to grow in southern states. Telangana is one among the seven states, which the party has focused on gaining strength.

The other states include Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The party achieved power in Assam, made inroads into Odisha, sees good prospects in Karnataka and now the focus would be on Telangana, said a senior leader of the party.

Union minister and party in charge Hansraj G Aheer, during the state executive meeting in Sangareddy, told the state leaders that the party’s next target is Telangana and that they should gear up the cadre from booth level to state level.Telangana BJP president K Laxman, on Friday, said that the proposed visit of national president Amit Shah was making the TRS leaders jittery.

He said that the party is bound to grow in the state as people were unhappy with the anti-people policies of the TRS government. He said that the state leaders would be busy with the booth committee meetings after the meeting of Amit Shah in Hyderabad.

Union ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Nirmala Sitaraman and others would be taking part in booth level meetings in Lok Sabha constituencies of Mahabubnagar, Bhongir and Karimnagar. He said that till now, meetings were convened in nine constituencies and the remaining constituencies would be covered during the last week of May.
