New Delhi: The Centre has reportedly flagged green signal for giving 100 acres of land, including Bison Polo Grounds for construction of two elevated expressways and construction of new State Secretariat.
One expressway would start near Paradise junction, pass through Bison Polo Grounds, Secunderabad Cantonment Board CEO residence, Begumpet airport compound wall, Tadbund crossroads, Bowenpally crossroads and terminate at Bowenpally checkpost.
Land belonging to Bison Polo Grounds, CEO residence and a few private properties near Tadbund crossroads and Bowenpally will be required for the expressway.
At present, the 5.2-km NH stretch is narrow and traffic snarls are common on it.
Another 11.5 km expressway would come between Tivoli junction and Air Force Station (AFS), Hakimpet on the Rajiv Rahadari State Highway.
It would start at Tivoli junction pass through Karkhana, Trimulgherry, Alwal and culminate at the Air Force Station. This stretch is too congested and at places the width of the existing road is between 30 and 40 feet only.
It is said that the Union Home Ministry has taken the decision following the repeated requests from the state government and the meeting Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had with Prime Minister recently. The state government has offered about 1,000 acres of alternative land in Vikarabad, Vanaparthy and Nalgonda.
