Inclusion of granite, water in GST will hit projects: KCR
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, on Tuesday, said that the inclusion of granite, irrigation and drinking water supply in the GST would have adverse effect on various ongoing programmes taken up by the State government.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, on Tuesday, said that the inclusion of granite, irrigation and drinking water supply in the GST would have adverse effect on various ongoing programmes taken up by the State government.
He would take up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said. Stating this at a review meeting, the Chief Minister instructed the officials of Irrigation Department to ensure that all the pending projects in Palamuru district would be completed by Kharif season next year and works on the major irrigation projects in the district would be speeded up.
He expressed his dissatisfaction over some people approaching the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Sundilla Barrage issue despite the fact that the Supreme Court refused to grant a stay on the issue. He asked the officials to construct Narlapur, Edula, Vattem and Karivena reservoirs which are part of Palamuru project with the maximum capacity levels.
This will help to turn arid lands into fertile ones and will help in preventing migration of workers. The reservoirs will also help in supply of water to the farmers of Palamuru, Kalwakurthy, Nettampad and Bhima projects, he said.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to fill the tanks in the jurisdiction of Pamulaparthy and Ranganayak Sagar reservoirs by completing the construction of reservoirs under Kaleswaram project by 2019. KCR has set one year target to complete the Sitarama Project so that farmers in Khammam can get water.
Utilise Singur Project efficiently with a comprehensive plan; and supply water through gravity to Singur,” the CM instructed the officials. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Special Chief Secretary SK Joshi, Government’s Advisor Vivek, State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Niranjan Reddy, MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy and E-in-C Muralidhar were present at the meeting.
