Hyderabad: Minister for Excise and Prohibition, T Padma Rao Goud on Sunday distributed clothes to the poor Muslims to mark the holy Ramzan festival at some mosques in Sithaphalmandi area of Secunderabad constituency here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is giving equal priority to all religions. The TRS government has launched residential schools for poor Muslim children to get quality education in English medium.

‘‘We are giving priority for all religions with a focus on welfare,’’ Padma Rao said and added that in Telangana, people of different religions like Hindus, Muslims, Christians and others live together in a peaceful atmosphere and complete brotherhood and communal harmony.

He said that the government has sanctioned Rs 4.8 crore to 432 mosques and each mosque gets Rs one lakh to conduct Iftar dinner party for Ramzan. He also said that a total of 2.16 lakh of gift packets were distributed and each mosque got 500 gift packs of clothes.

Later the Minister also inspected the Ramzan festival arrangements at Eidgah nearby, a press release said. TRS leaders including Seethaphalmandi corporator Hema Samala and Minority leaders and religious heads participated in the programme.
