Hyderabad: As a part of beautification of the Metro Rail structures and its premises, senior and budding artists are being invited to come forward in creating different forms of art work on Metro Rail structures as stated by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director (MD) N V S Reddy.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, he said the four sides of the Metro Rail pillars, two sides facing the traffic (perpendicular ones) would be reserved for the advertisement boards of Larsen & Toubro Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (L&TMRHL) and the remaining two sides which were parallel to traffic would be used for art work and growing vertical gardens.
Reddy said that generally, every fifth pillar would be used for vertical garden and the remaining pillars and other Metro Rail structures would be used for creation of different forms of art work on them.
He said that different themes reflecting Telangana culture and history, monuments, rockscape and landscape, wildlife, traditional and modern art, abstract and symbolic art, metaphorical and conceptual themes, modern and contemporary style, etc., can be chosen by the artists. The artists can work with different media including cement, mosaic, ceramic, stone, terracotta, scrap, fibreglass, etc.
MD NVS Reddy has appealed to the interested and enthusiastic artists and art firms to go through the details regarding the proposed art works on HMRL website www.hmrl.telangana.gov.in and submit their ideas and offers.
“Reimbursement of expenditure and reasonable remuneration for the selected artists based on their output will be provided by HMRL”, he said.
For any clarifications or further details, interested members can contact the General Manager (GM), HMRL, BN Rajeshwar on 8008456866.
