Hyderabad: The State Labour Department (SLD) is all set to rollout the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) under the National Child Labour Project in all the 31 districts of the State.

According to the SLD officials, until recently, implementation of the NCLP had hit a road block following the bifurcation issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Later, the reorganisation of districts was also responsible for the delay in the implementation of the programmes.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, a senior official of the Commissioner of Labour and Employment Department said that as per the CSS norms every, district should have a registered NCLP Project Society.

It was through these societies that schemes for the elimination of child labour, rehabilitation of children working in hazardous occupations, survey of child labour engaged in hazardous occupations and others had to be carried out. Similarly, the rescued children should be admitted into special schools so as to enable them to join mainstream and into formal schooling system.

The district level project societies which are entirely funded by the Centre will have to open special schools, rehabilitation centers for the rescued children from the child labour,” he added.

It was against this backdrop that the State government had decided to form the project societies in the newly carved out 21 districts of the State.

The process of formation of the district project societies had been completed and all the districts in the State, now, have the necessary mechanism as per NCLP,” the official said.

Following this, the SLD would be in a position to take up the activities like providing non-formal or bridge education, skilled vocational training, mid-day meals and monthly stipend for children. Also, the new facilities going to be opened will have healthcare facilities, he said.
