Hyderabad: As part of promotion of Telugu language, Telangana state government has made Telugu language as a compulsory subject from first standard to twelfth in private and public educational institutions. It was also decided that the educational institutions that are teaching Telugu, as a compulsory subject would only be given recognition and permissions to function.
Reviewing the arrangements for the proposed 5-day World Telugu Conference from December 15 in the city, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao instructed the Sahitya Akademi to prepare syllabus for the Telugu subject to be taught to primary, secondary, higher and Intermediate classes.
The syllabus should be framed and textbooks should be printed at the earliest. The syllabus fixed by the Sahitya Akademi will be taught in all the educational institutions. The institutions are not expected to print textbooks and teach syllabus according to their whims and fancies.
