Continuing their crackdown on miscreants in the Old city, the South Zone police conducted a Cordon and Search operation at various places in the early hours of Saturday and nabbed notorious criminals and seized vehicles without valid documents.

Hyderabad: Continuing their crackdown on miscreants in the Old city, the South Zone police conducted a Cordon and Search operation at various places in the early hours of Saturday and nabbed notorious criminals and seized vehicles without valid documents.

The police took up the operation in Dal Mandi, Allah Masjid and Kishanbagh areas under the Bahadurpura police station limits between 5.30 a.m. and 8 a.m. About 325 police personnel, including women police platoons, from the South Zone took part in the operation led by South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana along with Additional DCP Babu Rao and others.

According to South Zone police, 22 suspects were taken into custody using online fingerprint database mechanism. Three criminals who were absconding in attempt to murder cases under Rein Bazar and Bhavani Nagar police stations were nabbed.

The credentials of several others were verified. About 72 unclaimed two-wheelers and eight unclaimed auto-rickshaws without valid documents were seized.

The police also raided scrap go-downs and seized four unclaimed engines of trucks. South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana said, “As the area is located on the city outskirts and on borders of Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissionerates, there is a chance of criminals, robbers entering into the areas. We conducted the search to keep a check on them.”

Police sources said, the locals who feared harm from Murtuza Pahelwan gang complained the police resulting in the
operation.
