Hyderabad: Narasimha Donthineni, a student of IIM Rohtak and a graduate from CBIT Hyderabad, received Indian Young Achiever award for his work on modernising public libraries in the limits of GHMC.

Narasimha had fought for the efficient functioning of Public Libraries in Hyderabad. He found that Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had collected Rs.339.87 crores as Library Cess between 2006-2013, but remitted only Rs.38.1 crores.

He filed a public interest litigation (PIL) petition against the GHMC and the State government for non-remittance of the Library Cess. The State Government had filed a counter petition supporting him. Indian Young Achievers Award had been instituted to recognise and encourage young talent

He is the only person from Telangana State to receive the award. He co-founded and led YBI (Youth for Better India), involving youth in the anti-corruption movement.

He also worked for introduction of combination tickets in RTC buses. The award was presented at "12th National Quality Conclave" on Friday by Baba Ramdev and Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman of Quality Council Of India, and Dr RP Singh, Secretary of Quality council of India.
