Hyderabad: State government has achieved a great success in the ‘sheep distribution’ programme.

The government has so far distributed 23.80 lakh sheep to Golla Kuruma communities in just four months after the launch of the scheme in June. A target has been set to distribute 80 lakh sheep under the new schemes to provide livelihood to the poor.

Discussing with the delegates, who came from all over to attend All India Kuruma Conference in Hyderabad, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said there are 35 to 40 lakh people who belong to Yadav community in the State, The State was importing 650 truckloads of meat and in Hyderabad city alone 35 truckloads of meat is being imported on a daily basis, which is shameful.

The scheme to distribute sheep to Golla Kurma community was aimed at achieving self-sufficiency in meat production. The Chief Minister said after two years, All India Shepherd Community Conference will be held in Hyderabad and by then the Telangana Shepherd community would become the richest community.

In this context, the Chief Minister also announced the grant of 10 acres of land and Rs 10 crore for the construction of Golla Kuruma Hostel. For all those Backward Classes candidates who cannot win from the direct election, they would be accommodated in the Legislative Council.

KCR also explained the delegation that his government had taken up initiative to constitute Farmers Seva Samithis to strengthen the farming sector. He reiterated his government’s resolve to provide Rs 8,000 per acre as an input subsidy to farmers from next year.
