Hyderabad : TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has strongly objected to the distribution of costly Diwali gifts to Union Ministers and officials of various ministries by IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Bhatti said that costly gifts were nothing less than bribe. He said contractors, who execute different works, distribute similar gifts among ministers and officials. He said KTR was setting a wrong precedent of giving costly gifts to Central ministers and officials. He reminded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had advised Sinagreni workers to beat with slippers to those who pay or seek bribe. He said now KCR's son himself was trying to bribe Union Ministers with costly gifts and asked how KTR should be treated.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy has also opposed distribution of Diwali gifts to Central ministers and asked KCR to restrain from starting a new precedent. He wrote a letter to the Chief Minister questioning the rationale behind sending Diwali gifts to union ministers and officials.
