Hyderabad : The winter session of Telangana State Legislative Assembly will be held for 50 days.
The decision was taken during the meeting of Assembly's Business Advisory Committee (BAC) held in Assembly premises on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy and was attended by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari, Legislative Affairs Minister T. Harish Rao, Govt Whip K. Eshwar, Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka (Congress), BJP floor leader G. Kishan Reddy, TDP MLA S. Venkata Veeraiah and others.
According to sources, the Chief Minister advised that the Assembly session be held for 50 days. Responding to the suggestion, Jana Reddy said more issues could be discussed if the session is held for longer duration. In a lighter vain, KCR said he had no objection if the session is continued for even 100 days. However, he said that the opposition members should stick to the agenda and avoid disrupting the proceedings of the House.
Jana Reddy demanded that discussions be held on farmers' issues, Mission Bhagiratha, irrigation projects, Law & Order situation, irregularities in Mission Kakatiya, atrocities on Dalits and STs, gangster Nayeem case, Drug racket among others. He also wanted debates on adjournment motions presented before Question Hour. The Chief Minister reportedly assured that the government was ready to debate on all public issues.
The session will begin on Friday and it would be adjourned after Question Hour for the BAC meeting which will again discuss and finalise the agenda for the remaining session.
Jana Reddy and Bhatti have demanded that the arrests of Congress leaders and workers be stopped in view of 'Chalo Assembly' rally proposed to be taken on Friday.
