Of Rs 70 crore power dues, the Chief Minister instructed the government to pay Rs 40 crore to the Electricity department. The remaining Rs 30 crore would be waived by the TRANSCO power utility. The Transco Chairman and Managing Director Prabhakar Rao was instructed to take necessary steps towards this end.
He also wanted the officials concerned to provide power connection to the each ST house by collecting a nominal fee of Rs 125 per connection. The Chief Minister said of the 9,737 ST habitations, there is no three phase power in 8,734 villages and this alone showed the apathy of the then united AP rulers. All the cases booked by the vigilance would be lifted against the STs. State Forest department officials were instructed to make proper strategies for the laying of power lines in the forest areas.
The Chief Minister also announced that for every ST habitation, house, for every ROFR patta farmer, power connection would be provided. Road connectivity will also developed in every ST habitation by allocating required funds in the Budget. The other sops are the establishment of residential schools in the Adivasis areas and extension of sheep rearing schemes in the agency areas.
A new policy will be implemented through which Adivasis children get admission into the residential schools started in their areas exclusively for them. STs will be given financial assistance for self-employment without having any link with the banks. The Chief Minister wanted the officials to make plans for this and wanted all the sub sects among the STs should come together and make use of various government programmes and schemes.
At the meeting with all people representatives of the ST communities , KCR constituted a committee headed by TRS MLA Redya Naik to coordinate with the officials for the road network connectivity to all the ST habitations. TRS MP Sitaram Naik will head Committee that will coordinate on education and self-employment matters and another MLA Payam Venkateshwarlu will head a committee that take care of the power supply related issues.
