Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday asserted that the proposed five-day World Telugu Conference (WTC) starting from December 15 should be held with the same spirit, coordination and enthusiasm shown during the separate statehood movement, which achieved the Telangana State in 2014.
Addressing the literary personalities and scholars in Telugu at a review meeting on the arrangements being made for the conference to be held from December 15 here at Pragati Bhavan in the city, the Chief Minister said he wanted the proposed conference to reflect the self-respect, literary history, culture of Telangana and not to demean others.
The Chief Minister felt that there was lot of literary creativity that took place in the Telangana region in the past. There is no dearth of talent in the region. But unfortunately, the Telangana literary personalities did not get the fame or recognition that they deserved, he lamented.
The steps being taken to develop and spread the Telugu language should be highlighted at the WTC, he added. KCR asked the officials to showcase the literary works of eminent Telangana writers and send the message to the world that there was a bright future for the Telugu language in the Telangana State. He said that the conference should dwell on the Telangana literary history, Telangana language uniqueness and all the genres of the region. KCR said the conference should be held on a gigantic scale and with lot of pomp and splendor.
He instructed the officials to decorate Hyderabad with welcome arches and make excellent boarding and lodging facilities for the guests. As the State government already made it mandatory to teach Telugu till Intermediate, KCR said that it was also planning to bring a new policy by which people studying Telugu would get lot of job opportunities. Government Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma and Advisor (Culture) KV Ramanachary and others were present in the meeting.
