Police arrest Maoist on extortion charges

Police arrested Bhadradri-Kothaguda district committee secretary of the CPI Rayala Group, Punem Lingaiah alias Linganna on charges of extortion on Friday.
Based on a tip-off near Raghunadhapalem, the police nabbed him and seized a pistol, four rounds of ammunition, Rs 25,200 cash along with a bike from his possession.

It is learned that Lingaiah was allegedly involved in close to 20 offences which includes a murder case.
The Khammam Police Commissioner, Tafseer Iqbal on Friday produced the accused before the media.
Just last week, the party’s Mahabubabad district secretary Sammaiah alias Gopi was arrested by the police on charges of extortion.
