Hyderabad: Enthused by the immense response from across the country to his government’s ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to undertake ‘Rythu Yatra’ soon after the launch of farmers' insurance scheme on August 15.
The objective of the yatra is to ascertain the change in the lives of farmers after they got financial assistance under the crop investment support scheme. The incentive of Rs 4,000 per acre has been provided to every farmer who owned agriculture land. Around 58 lakh farmers were covered under the investment support scheme launched on May 10 in the state.
Top officials of the state Telangana Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (State Farmers Coordination Committee), which is overseeing the distribution of cheques to the beneficiaries in the villages, said the Chief Minister is keen to visit selected villages and interact with the farmers about Rythu Bandhu and the insurance schemes exclusively for the farming community.
The officials said the state committee chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy has already been instructed to study the farming activity in the ensuing kharif season after extending financial assistance. The committee in coordination with the Agriculture department will also measure the significant changes taking place in the farmers attitude and the farming activity post the implementation of Rythu Bandhu scheme at gross root level.
“The government is closely monitoring the farming activity and also the behavioral change in the distressed farmers after they have been given assistance, who have till then been facing difficulties due to debt burden,” a senior leader associated with the coordination committee told The Hans India.
Based on the observations, the Chief Minister will take up Rythu Yatra and meet farmers at agriculture fields in the farming season. KCR wanted to take up field visits to have a firsthand information by an interaction with the beneficiaries.
The CM will come to know if any other problems are being faced by the farming community and address them before the launch of disbursement of second instalment of financial assistance in November before the beginning of the rabi season.
KCR’s Cabinet colleagues and his party MLAs will also take up simultaneous Rythu Yatras in their respective districts during KCR’s yatra. He will visit a selected district accompanied by agriculture officials and coordination committee’s state-level members.
