Call to speed up sari production
Director of Handlooms and Textiles Shailaja Ramaiyer directed the representatives of Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies (MACS) and owners of Small Scale Industries (SSIs) to speed up the manufacturing of saris. She was speaking at review meeting of the progress of Bathukamma saris production here on Tuesday.
Sircilla: Director of Handlooms and Textiles Shailaja Ramaiyer directed the representatives of Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies (MACS) and owners of Small Scale Industries (SSIs) to speed up the manufacturing of saris. She was speaking at review meeting of the progress of Bathukamma saris production here on Tuesday.
She said that the government had entrusted the responsibility of producing 90 lakh Bathukamma saris to 110 MACS and 72 SSIs. Stating that only 6,000 looms have started manufacturing saris, she emphasised the need for starting another 12,000 looms so that the target production would be ensured before September 20. Later, she inspected some sari production units and expressed satisfaction.
District Collector Krishna Bhaskar, Assistant Director of Handlooms and Textiles V Ashok Rao, TESCO general manager P Yadagiri and district-level monitoring official J Chakrapani were among others present.
