Lazy teachers face villagers wrath, dragged out of school
In a bizarre development, parents of a local school dragged two teachers out of the school alleging them of not working sincerely in educating their wards in Wanaparthy district on Tuesday
Wanaparthy: In a bizarre development, parents of a local school dragged two teachers out of the school alleging them of not working sincerely in educating their wards in Wanaparthy district on Tuesday.
The residents of Yeddulageri village under Wanaparthy mandal of the district forcefully dragged the two teachers from the school and alleged that both the teachers were inefficient as their children who are studying in the local Government Primary school have learned nothing for the past four years.
A group of villagers raising slogans like ‘we don’t want these inefficient teachers’ came to the school and dragged them out and locked the school. According to the villagers, Narender and Manjula are two government teachers working in Yeddulageri Primary School having strength of 28 students.
However, not a single student in the school could read or write the Telugu alphabets completely. “The way the teachers teaching in this school is clearly reflected in the performance of our children. For the past four years, these teachers have just passed time and have not taken any initiative to help our kids learn at least alphabets,” said an agitating parent.
Earlier, there used to be up to 5th class in the school. However, with teachers not teaching well, many students shifted to other private schools and the government reduced classes up to 4 citing low strength in the school.
Many students alleged that the school teachers came and just sat chit-chatting and did not teach anything to the children. “Each teacher is earning more than Rs 35,000 to 40,000 per month, but they are not doing their duty properly. They come over here to pass time and leave early. No one is taking sincere responsibility to teach the students.
The mandal Education officials have also turned a blind eye and they are also not taking serious action and there is no accountability of the performance of these teachers by the higher-ups,” alleged another villager.
The schoolchildren alleged that one teacher Narender Reddy came late and then he spent time by sitting under a tree and left early citing various reasons. The villagers, after observing the performance of these teachers, decided to send both the teachers from the school and asked the government officials to appoint some other efficient teachers who can teach discipline and provide good education to the children.
After learning about the incident, higher officials of Education Department from Wanaparthy rushed to the spot and tried to convince the villagers. However, the villagers vehemently opposed both the teachers and wanted the government to appoint efficient teachers in their place.
