Hyderabad: The All-India Congress Committee (AICC) president, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday appreciated the work done by State Congress in implementing the Shakti programme, which connects booth-level workers to the top leadership.
The Congress president was speaking after felicitating the top performers in Shakti programme from Telangana, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh at a function held in the national capital. TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Koppula Raju, head of Rahul Gandhi’s core team, former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot, Shakti programme Telangana Coordinator and Pargi MLA T Rammohan Reddy, AICC Analytics Department chairman Praveen Chakravorthy and other senior leaders were also present.
Rahul Gandhi said that the Shakti programme was helping the party in not only connecting the booth-level workers, but it was also making a clear differentiation between on who was working on the ground and who was not. He said in future, the Shakti app would act like an x-ray or CT-scan that would give a clear picture of party’s strength and weakness in a given area.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam said that the Shakti programme has helped in rejuvenation of party cadre wherein the calibre of every leader and worker was being tested on the basis of enrolment. He added that people registering themselves with Shakti programme were either Congress workers or sympathisers, and they were giving their consent to get information on party activities on regular basis.
While appreciating the work done by the party leaders across Telangana, the TPCC chief said that more focus would be laid on areas where Shakti registrations were slow. Meanwhile, Rammohan Reddy informed that Telangana was on third position after Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, with 1.80 lakh registrations across the State.

They include Nuthi Srikanth (Amberpet), Padmavathi Reddy (Kodad), Dr Vamshi Krishna (Achampet), Donthi Madhava Reddy (Narsampet), Makhan Singh Raj Thakur (Ramagundem), Dr Sanjeev Reddy (Sangareddy), V Pratap Reddy (Gajwel), G Prasad Kumar (Vikarabad), Anil (Balkonda) and Maheshwar Reddy (Nirmal).
