Khammam: The youth must cooperate and extend their helping hand to aged people so that they can utilise their right to vote in the upcoming Assembly elections, urged District Collector RV Karnan here on Sunday

The Collector inaugurated the 5K Run organised to create awareness among the people to enroll their names in the voters list and utilise their right to vote here at Lakaram tank bund in Khammam.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnan said that all the eligible persons who have completed 18 years of age by 1 January, 2018, must enroll their names in the voters list by September 25 at the polling booth of their respective areas.

The people must check whether their name is included in the voters list or not. If not, they must enroll their names by filling the form number-6 and also apply for making necessary corrections if any mistakes are found on the voters list, suggested the Collector.

The youth must play active role in giving wide publicity through flash mobs and mass signature campaigns for enrollment of names of eligible people in the voters list.

Later, the Collector administered students, youth, women, members of Lions club and walkers Association a pledge about utilisation of their right to vote.

Sub-Collector Anurag Jayant, Municipal Commissioner J Srinivas Rao, District and Rural Development officer Paramanda Reddy, Gouse, Akbar Ali, Suresh, Paripurna Chary, Madina and Shiva and others were on the occasion.
