Hyderabad: It is usual for political parties to discreetly conduct pre-poll surveys to gauge their winning prospects. “The Times They Are A-Changin…” seems to ring true for many leaders in all parties as they aspire to contest the fast-approaching elections. For, they have no hang-ups in individually hiring reputed consultants to conduct surveys secretly and ascertain whether they can clinch victory in their respective assembly constituencies in the elections. In this trendy race, the Congress leaders are ahead of others, followed by those of TRS and TDP.

Most of the TRS candidates whose names have already declared and some senior leaders in Congress and Telugu Desam have got their first round of survey reports. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, A Revanth Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, J Geeta Reddy, Damodar Raja Narasimha, Jana Reddy and N Uttam Kumar Reddy are among the senior Congress leaders who have already got feedback from private agencies on people’s support to them. The second rung leaders - SA Sampath Kumar, Vamshichander Reddy, N Padmavathi Reddy, Kaarthik Reddy and Sudhir Reddy are waiting for the results of their individual survey results. All these leaders are sure of getting their party tickets in the forthcoming elections.

The TRS leaders and ministers in the caretaker government – G Jagadish Reddy, P Srinivas Reddy, Laxma Reddy, Jogu Ramanna, Talasani Yadav, T Padma Rao and most of the TRS candidates whose names were declared by TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao on September 6, on the day the state Assembly was dissolved, are busy ascertaining their winning prospects and chalking out strategies by addressing the anti-incumbency factor and also local rivalry, if any, within the party.

Senior leaders of TDP, including president L Ramana and R Chandrashekhar Reddy, E Peddi Reddy, R Prakash Reddy, B Mallayya Yadav and others have entrusted special teams to their assembly constituencies for an in-depth survey to determine their winning prospects. Since the TDP has lost its ground in TS post bifurcation, the party leaders are worried about their political future.

Leaders aver that the individual survey reports would be utilised to set things in the right direction before the issue of notification for elections. Amidst speculations that the Election Commission would announce the election schedule in the third week of October, the leaders are in a hurry to secure their future in politics by holding on to survey reports, presuming they would be positive.
