Mahbubnagar: The Communist party of India (CPI) and Congress leaders have lambasted the Health Minister and the officials of the Health department for not taking preventive steps to curb the dreaded diseases like dengue and malaria in the erstwhile Mhabubnagar district.

Paramesh Goud, CPI district secretary, while visiting the Government district hospital in Mahabubnagar to convey his solidarity with the patients suffering from dengue and malaria diseases on Thursday, alleged that even though the people are suffering with various viral fevers and dreaded diseases since past 3 months, the health department officials have not taken any kind of preventive measures to mitigate the problem.

He lambasted the Health Minister Dr. C. Laxma Reddy for not concentrating on the healthcare of the people but playing political game. “The TRS government and its rulers are least bothered about the health of the people.

Instead of working towards the welfare of the people, they have forced the people to go for early elections and now fully getting immersed into election campaigning rather than taking care about the people’s health,” said Paramesh Goud.

Similarly in Wanaparthy district, congress sitting MLA Chinna Reddy along with his supporters staged a protest in front of Wanaparthy municipality and raised slogans against the TRS government and health minister, as they have failed miserably in directing the healthcare staff to take preventive measures so that the vector borne diseases like dengue, malaria and other viral fevers do not spread in the district.

“There are hundreds of people who have been shifted to Hyderabad from Mahabubnagar to get treatment in Hyderabad for dengue. The Dengue disease is a deadly disease and it has no cure.

As there is no proper facilities available in Mahabubnagar hospital, hundreds of cases are being referred various super speciality hospitals in Hyderabad. The TRS government talks one thing does another thing. They have miserably failed in containing the dengue disease in the state,” said Chinna Reddy, former Minister and MLA candidate from Wanaparthy.

Both the CPI and Congress leaders alleged that the rise Dengue and Malaria diseases have increased in the district only because of lack of proper sanitation and proper cleanliness measures. More so the health department has also exhibited its lethargy in implementing awareness camps and sensitization programmes in the district to prevent the vector borne disease.
