Adilabad: The number of dengue and seasonal fevers cases is on the rise in Adilabad district. The Rajiv Institution of Medical Science (RIMS) is struggling with influx of 1,000 patients every day. The number of patients on Tuesday rose to 1,200.
Patients are coming to hospital with symptoms of high fevers, rashes, cold and cough. Change in weather conditions have led to spike in number of patients suffering from viral fevers, according to doctors.
Most of the dengue cases registered are from Agency area, Andhu Naik tanda and Sukhi Naik tanda of Indervelli mandal and Kutikal village under Neradigonda mandal and Gudihathnoor mandals and urban area s Sanjay Nagar, Chilikuri Lakshminagar, Putlibowli of Adilabad district, District Medical and Health Officer Rajeev Raj said so far 190 patients tested positive for dengue and among them three are having acute symptoms.
More than 20,000 seasonal viral fever cases were reported. But there were no malaria cases, he said. K Preetham of Early village under Bheempur mandal said he tested positive for dengue and he took treatment in a private hospital as his platelet count was low, he was referred to RIMS for transfusion of platelets he said.
