The All India Sunni Ulema Board, Hyderabad, on Wednesday held that the political parties that are in the election fray should approach Muslims with Justiciable Election Manifesto for seeking votes

Dabeerpura: The All India Sunni Ulema Board, Hyderabad, on Wednesday held that the political parties that are in the election fray should approach Muslims with ‘Justiciable Election Manifesto’ for seeking votes. They explained that this would make them bind to their election promises and in case of any failure, the aggrieved will have a provision to drag them to courts over false promises.

Speaking to media persons at Board’s office in Dabeerpura Maulana Syed Tariq Quadri, one of the board members said that about 95 per cent of the election manifesto promises of 2014 made by the TRS have not been implemented. He said that only 34 per cent of the budget earmarked for minorities was spent, and that the rest of the funds were sent back to the treasury. “It is a very shameful state of affairs, as all Muslim leaders in TRS, including deputy chief minister can be seen harping on more than what can be possible to implement in the last election. How can you expect implementation of schemes and empowerment of Muslims in this way?” he questioned.

Tariq Quadri, who is also a practicing advocate, felt that only the ‘Justiciable Election Manifesto’ would be an answer to the problem. “Whichever political party gives commitment and enters into an agreement with the Muslims with better proposition will be canvassed by the Muslims. If the party doesn’t implement its promises, we can go to court,” he added.

Maulana Syed Hamid Hussain Shuttari, president of Sunni Ulema Board, Hyderabad, said that the board has submitted its charter of demands to all political parties in the fray and is awaiting responses. He said that its demands include implementation of Sudheer Committee recommendations, empowerment of Wakf Board on the lines of the Endowment Department, filling of vacant Wakf Board positions with qualified personnel, implementation of Sub-plan for minorities and filling up of teacher posts in schools and colleges of Urdu medium within six months after coming to power.
