Hyderabad: Allurements are the order of the day this election season. Apart from the party manifesto at state level, manifestos at assembly constituency level took centre-stage in the poll campaign in Telangana.

The TRS contestants and ticket aspirants from other political parties are already working overtime to entice the voters in their respective constituencies by preparing segment-wise tailor-made manifestos which suit the local needs.

They vow improvement in civic amenities in the colonies and also ready to address the plight of local communities if they are voted and win elections.

In some cases, candidates have gone a step forward fulfilling personal wishes like offering gifts - smart phones, LED TVs, foreign liquor and also address the issues of each community.

TRS candidate from Nirmal Assembly constituency A Indrakaran Reddy openly offered cricket kits to the enthusiastic youth who aspired to become cricket players. In Maheshwaram Assembly constituency, TRS candidate T Krishna Reddy announced construction of community halls for Muslims, BCs and other communities. TRS senior leader KT Rama Rao is holding series of meetings with the NGOs and colony associations in Greater Hyderabad and made some assurances to the locals.

The TRS candidates were asked to accord priority to the local issues in the campaign. BJP senior leader and Amberpet Assembly segment candidate G Kishan Reddy is visiting every household and is interacting with voters. He made the promise of providing free education to the children of the poor.

Ticket aspirants from Mahakutami already sent gifts to some local influential community leaders in the form of Diwali gifts. Foreign scotch and smartphones were among the expensive freebies given to them. The TRS candidates and aspirants from grand alliance in the Assembly constituencies which fall under the Greater Hyderabad limits are trying to lure voters in a large number since the electoral battle between TRS and Mahakutami is expected to be very tough this time.

TRS candidate from Uppal assembly segment B Subhash Reddy held meetings with the local NGOs and colony associations and announced sops which include regular water supply, installation of CCTVs in the colonies free of cost and improvement of road network. In Muslim-dominated areas, the leader has made the promise of renovation of the mosques. TDP candidate T Virendar Goud is also appeasing local people with a slew of promises which include establishment of public parks and free wi-fi facilities in a few colonies.

Leaders said that the party manifestos target communities state wide and announce welfare and development schemes in entirety. The major challenge before the contestants is to convince the local people in their respective segments and get their support in the elections. All the leaders are busy preparing constituency and ward-wise manifestos in consultation with the community leaders and colony associations.
