Karimnagar: Criticising that the TRS government did nothing during its four- and half-year tenure, former MP and TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar said the TRS and its leaders once again trying to deceive the people with their mesmerising words by copying the Congress manifesto.

On Saturday he participated in poll campaign at Gopalapur, Erukulla, Mugdampur and Mandulapalli villages under Karimnagar constituency and appealed the people to vote for the Congress for all-round development in the State.

Ponnam alleged the TRS did nothing to the people and failed to fulfil any of its poll promises made to the people before going to 2014 elections. Congress under the reign of former Chief Minister YS Rajashekara Reddy provided pure drinking water and supplied power by establishing sub-stations in every village.

He told the village and mandal-level Congress leaders to visit every house and explain to the people about the failures of the TRS government and the development that took place during Congress rule and the welfare schemes that were introduced by the Congress.

After coming to the power, the Congress will sanction Rs 10 lakhs for Self-Help Groups without interest for their financial development, Rs 2 lakh farm loans will be waived off, pensions will be given for unemployed youth and six domestic gas cylinders to every family. Ponnam appealed the voters to vote for the Congress candidates in the coming up Assembly elections and give the party a bumper majority so that it can fulfil all its promises.

Participating at a meeting organised by the representatives of Recognised Private School Association, which extended its support for Congress, Ponnam alleged that caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was trying to dissolve the education sector with unnecessary restrictions. By imposing strict rules, he is trying to close private schools and colleges. The Congress will solve all the issues pertaining to private educational institutions after coming to power, he assured.

MLC Santosh Kumar, TPCC general secretary C Lakshminarasimha Rao, former MP Rajaiah, former Mayor D Shankar, mandal president M Venkat Ravinder Reddy, Telangana Private School Management union State president V Narendar Reddy and others were present along with Prabhakar.
