Hyderabad: Caretaker IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday said that the TRS government made the BJP government at the Centre to appreciate the State and its Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for the welfare activities, especially taken up for the disabled sections.

Speaking at the ‘Divyangula Krutagnata Sabha’ at Jal Vihar here on Tuesday, the Minister said though the policies of TRS and BJP were different, the TRS made the BJP government appreciate the State government policies introduced for the disabled. He said that Telangana was the only State in the country where 43 per cent of the budget was spent on welfare of poor, and special initiatives towards the disabled.

“Modi’s policies are different and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s policies are different. KCR’s policy is to increase revenues and distribute them among the poor. For us, BJP is an opponent and we will defeat that party’s candidates in the elections,” said KTR. Even though there are differences, Modi himself has appreciated the TRS government in Parliament, he recalled.

The TRS leader said that his party has promised to enhance the pensions of disabled to Rs 3,015 and added that he would make sure the budget of the department was also increased after the new government takes shape on December 11. He also assured to talk to the Chief Minister for separating the department of disabled from Women and Child Welfare Department. He recalled that the government provided 4 per cent reservations to disabled.

Holding the previous Congress regimes responsible for the fluorosis problem in Nalgonda, he alleged that the Congress leaders concentrated only on accumulating properties instead of solving the fluorosis problem. “Chief Minister with his farsightedness has brought Mission Bhagiratha for providing drinking water to every household and this scheme will be completed by November-end,” he said.

The Minister targeted Mahakutami stating that people with different ideologies had formed an alliance by forgetting rivalry of four decades only to defeat TRS. He called up on people to bless the TRS chief stating that he was the man of works. Telangana resources would be available to Telangana only if the TRS wins, he said.

Making light of Congress for announcing candidates list late night, KTR said, “Few people were on hunger strike by using saline bottles at Gandhi Bhavan. It looked like Gandhi Hospital.” He also said that Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu has love towards Andhra Pradesh, but the Congress leaders were trying to handover Telangana to Babu.
